Who's behind this site, and why it exists

Local Marketing Agencies is a free buyer's guide for local business owners who are hiring a marketing agency, or wondering whether they should. It is published by EBCD, a performance marketing agency based in Dallas, Texas.

Why an agency would publish a guide like this

We talk to business owners every week who have already paid an agency and have nothing to show for it. They didn't know which questions to ask, didn't own their own ad accounts, and were judging the work on numbers that didn't matter. Most of that is avoidable if you know what to look for before you sign.

So we wrote it down. The guides are meant to be useful whether or not you ever hire us, and we're open about the fact that we're an agency. If you take our match quiz and your business isn't a fit for what we do, we'll tell you and explain what kind of agency to look for instead.

How we write the guides

  • Real numbers only. When we quote cost per lead or return figures, they come from ad accounts we manage (client names withheld). Where we give typical ranges, we say they're ranges.
  • No invented statistics. We don't cite studies we can't stand behind.
  • No paid placements. No agency pays to be mentioned here.
  • Updated when things change. Ad costs move. Each guide shows its last updated date.

Who writes them

The guides are written and reviewed by Chris Luna, founder of EBCD. He has managed more than $300,000 in ad spend for local and home-service businesses, and runs a team that handles the ads, the CRM follow-up and the appointment setting for clients across the U.S.
